For the ultimate decadent date experience (weather permitting!), book a hot air balloon experience with Bailey Balloons. You can book your flight to watch the sunrise, or sunset, together and enjoy the astounding panoramic views that little else can offer. For the next 3 to 4 hours, romance is definitely in the air with this unforgettable adventure.

If you prefer your feet firmly on the ground, there are many more places for a romantic, leisurely walk together. There is no need to shout over others in a cramped bar, so you can get to know each other in relative peace and privacy.

Visit Leigh Woods Nature Reserve for an idyllic walk throughout the woodland, with eye-catching views over Bristol and above the Avon Gorge. You can follow the path at the base of the gorge and view the towering suspension bridge. Each season brings with it a different kind of beauty and flora and fauna. The nature reserve has dedicated walking trails and a dedicated mountain bike trail, and the opportunity to see the local wildlife within the park. The picnic area also has bespoke seating for your dreamy picnic.

Castle Park contains the ruins of medieval Bristol Castle’s keep and walls. St Peter’s Church was bombed in WWII and the ruins remain as a memorial to those who lost their lives, alongside a Sikh War Memorial to honour the fallen soldiers connected to Bristol. There is a sensory herb garden, which is easily accessible and you could follow the river round to the floating harbour.

For animal lovers, pay a visit to Bristol Zoo Gardens where you can see what is happening in the world of conservation. The zoo is the fifth oldest in the world and has helped to save over 175 species from extinction both in human care and the wild. The Zoo Gardens even holds weddings!

For the more adventurous, try your hand at axe-throwing! At Whistle Punks Axe Throwing, situated on All Saints Street, you can spend 70 minutes learning a sport you never knew you needed in your life until now! Refuel at the in-house Pizzarova restaurant afterwards, for the most delicious made-to-order sourdough pizzas.

Casamia is guaranteed to impress. With a Michelin star and 20 courses, your date and you are assured to have an incredible meal. Casamia admits they won’t cater to specific dietary requirements, therefore if you don’t like certain ingredients, you skip a course. If a music track comes on that you love, you are urged to get up and dance! At £180 per person and only one menu, a memorable night is in store.

Assuming that Casamia may be out of your price range and you don’t want a loan for a night out, there are tens of other outlets that offer tasty and tempting dishes. The Pipal Tree serves Punjabi food with a twist and is highly recommended by many. Turtle Bay offers Caribbean fayre and divine cocktails with a late-night bar. The Left-Handed Giant is an outstanding brew-pub and offers wood-fired vegetarian and vegan pizzas.

Cider tasting sessions and tours are a fairly new addition to the Bristol scene. You get to sample some of them, accompanied by food, and you will learn about different types and methods of production.

If shopping is a shared passion, wander around the covered St Nicholas market and shop at the independent retailers or traverse Cabot Circus for your designer and high street stores. Park Street and Queen’s Road have great shops, including music and record shops and cosy restaurants.

The iconic King Street has many more bars and eateries to visit if you don’t wish your night to end too soon!

With many more activities available in Bristol, such as bowling, Cabot Tower, escape rooms, mini-golf and a planetarium, your first rendezvous will not be the last.
